Planting Time:

Planting Method:
Sow seeds ½ inch deep. When the seedlings have 2 or 3 leaves, thin to stand 2 to 6 inches apart.

Soil:
Any good garden soil. pH 5.5 to 7.0.

Fertilizer:
At planting time, use 3 to 4 pounds of 10-10-10 fertilizer per 100 square feet, or 1 pound per 25-foot row. Side-dress every 3 to 4 weeks with 1 pound per 25-foot row.

Water:
How much: Apply enough water at each irrigation to wet the soil 8 to 10 inches deep.

Containers: 10 percent of the applied water should drain out the bottom.

How often: Water when the soil 2 inches deep is barely moist.

Harvest:
Pull turnips when the root is about 2 to 4 inches in diameter. Use both greens and roots.
